Got Kids?

A lot of what people "learn" about us is in the children's books they read. You might be surprised at some of the things children's books say about American Indians. Much is either inaccurate, insulting or dehumanizing. Before you read a book to your child or hand your child a book to read on his own, please visit the blog, "American Indians in Children's Literature" written by Debbie Reese.  There you will find out the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to the portrayal of American Indians in books for children.

And don't miss her posts on the "Little House on the Prairie" series! Because of the popularity of those books, the series Debbie has written about them is a must read.

Those are my thoughts for today.
Thanks for reading.
