Chief Crittenden - "The Cherokee Nation will not be governed by the BIA."

A message from acting Principal Chief Joe Crittenden in response to the letter the Cherokee Nation received from the BIA yesterday can be found here.

In the message, he says,
“The Cherokee Nation will not be governed by the BIA. We will hold our election and continue our long legacy of responsible self-governance.’’
Does this mean the descendants of the freedmen will vote? I don't know, but it seems as if Chief Crittenden is saying the election will go on.

Stay tuned. Updates will be posted as I become aware of them.
