Today, voters go to the polls to decide who will be the next deputy chief of the Cherokee Nation. Because there will be a new election for chief and it is yet to be scheduled, the newly elected deputy chief will be acting as principal chief when the current chief's term expires. Because if this, we must vote wisely for someone who will be leading our nation, even if only for a short while.
We are also voting on who will fill three seats on the council. These are all important and I hope everyone will get to the polls to let their voice be heard. If you want change in the Cherokee Nation, the time is NOW. This will not and cannot wait. Please vote.
I endorse the following candidates in the run offs -
Joe Crittenden for Deputy Chief
Mark Vance for District 1 council seat (Walkingstick is also a very good guy.)
Jodi Fishinghawk for District 2 council seat
Dick Lay for District 4 council seat
A vote for any of the people listed above would be greatly appreciated, but if you choose to vote for someone else, that is okay. Please, just vote and let your voice be heard.
